The Special Olympics is an organization that gives people with intellectual disabilities a place to shine. They do fund raising all year and then hold events all over the world that are just like the regular Olympics. This gives these people a chance to be part of an incredible event. It is amazing how much they have grown over the past decade. Not only are they giving these people an amazing opportunity, but they are also giving aid to countries in need of funds for research or medicine for these people.
It is incredible some of the athletes that have walked through this program. They hold records just like real Olympians. Although not everyone is outstanding at their event, everyone takes something away from this experience. If no life lessons, then definitely a group of friends which is hard for people with intellectual disabilities. The Special Olympics organization is one of the leading efforts to raise help and appreciation for people with disabilities, and they do a great job. I cannot wait to see how much more this group will do in the future!!
