The organization understands that not everyone has time to volunteer, or they don't feel comfortable volunteering. That is way they have came up with other ways to show support.
One way, of course, is to donate money. Any amount is helpful to the Special Olympics. They can use it for purchasing sports materials, uniforms, or training manuals for the athletes. Some bigger businesses will match their employees donations. You could also sign up for the monthly donation program. Some people think that this organization only has a biennial celebration. There is training and events all over the world happening every day! A monthly gift goes a long way here, and is put to great use.
Giving donations or time both help this non-profit organization. What they are doing out there is amazing. Not only are they providing people with intellectual disabilities a time to shine and compete, but they are spreading awareness to many undeveloped countries. In some countries people would be banished is they seemed "different." With the help of the Special Olympics, awareness is being spread to educate countries about people with disabilities and how to recognize and respect them.

Being a special education major as well, i found this very interesting. I love finding new ways to get involved and help out. I love reading news about the special olympics and think it is so cool for these people to be givin the chance to compete and educate other countries and get them recognized!
